The Biggest Rule of All

One big rule that you need to remember is: Do not click your own link!

Do not try it. Not even once. You have to trust that once you upload the Google AdSense script onto your site it will work correctly. Clicking on your own ads to test them will get you banned from AdSense.

By using cookies, Google is able to track visitors. When you log into Google your computer's IP address is put into the database. That way, Google tracks all of your AdSense activity. They also know which websites you have their ads listed on.

Because of the cookies and the code in the Google AdSense script, they are able to track when someone from your computer clicks on one of the ads on your website. When that happens an alert is activated on your account. If that alert gets noticed, you get kicked out of the program.

Those are the main rules that you need to be aware of. Most of the rest of the rules are legal statements, but you should read through them to know what you are agreeing to.

After the ads are running on your site there is not much more that you need to do with them.

Track Your Results

The only other thing you need to do is to track your results. When you have the Google AdSense script on any of your websites you will be able to track the effectiveness of your ads. You can add a tracking code to the script so you will know exactly which ads your visitors click.
